Áislann Rann na Feirste
The ‘Rann na Feirste Project’ committee was established in 1997 and capital grants from IFI, Údarás na Gaeltachta, Roinn na Gaeltachta and MFG were confirmed in 2007 to provide a community center for the Rann na Feirste community. During an election campaign the committee managed to raise over € 320,000. Culture, heritage and language are an important part of the Rann na Feirste community and it is hoped that Icelandic activities will be central to the preservation and development of these features.
Áislann itself is built in what was known as ‘Seán Néill Park’ and although it opened in June 2010 it was officially opened on 21 October 2011. It can now be said without a doubt that Rann na Feirste facilitates the life of the community and the communities that have affected us.
