Heritage Library
The Áislann has an impressive collection of books written in Irish by local writers such as Séamus Ó Grianna and Seosamh Mac Grianna, covering a range of subjects such as history, culture and poetry. These books are catalogued and are available to view.
The collection also contains audio recordings such as the songs of Neili Micí Hiúdaí that are available for listening.
With support from Ealaín na Gaeltachta, Cathal Goan, in collaboration with Cnuasach Bhéaloideas Éireann, digitised the material collected by Mícheal Ó Domhnaill (Skara Brae) from his aunt Neilí Mhicí Hiúdaí in Ranafast in 1974. There is a complete copy of this material (160 pieces of music and storytelling) based now in the Áislann. It can be accessed by any musicians or researchers who are interested in it.
